How can i fix RSS feed import?

[01-Jul-2015 23:17:25 UTC] PHP Fatal error: Call to undefined function trigger_rss_error() in /home/name/domains/name.com/public_html/modules/rss_import/magpierss/rss_fetch.inc on line 238
Hardly a day goes by here that I don't have a incoming RSS feed that doesn't go offline on at least one website.

I've tried changing the time between 'runs' for the problem feed but if that feed failed the last run then it tries to run again (I guess the timer does reset since there's no completion).

It would be nice to be able to suspend a Feed temporarily.

Right now I just export the problem feed to a file, delete the individual feed then re-run it later and import the feed if it then works.
The feed contained both text and images. The text imported fine. The images appear to be completely ignored.

I didn't see any options regarding the images in feeds. Please help.

Hi!

I'm trying to change the RSS path to my story images from:

modules/upload/attachments/image.jpg

to

modules/upload/attachments/thumbs/image200x200.jpg

I think I have to change the Upload_main.php from the Upload module, but after a while I haven't found any solution.
Doing this change I would have the thubnails for my RSS driven newsletter, not the full resolution images, which breaks the newsletter.

EDIT: I found a solution: add this at the end of the file upload_main.php
foreach ($images as $image){
$extension_pos = strrpos($image['file_name'], '.'); // find position of the last dot, so where the extension starts
$thumbnews['file_name'] = substr($image['file_name'], 0, $extension_pos) . '200x200' . substr($image['file_name'], $extension_pos);
print "n";}

Now I just need to automatically put the thumbnail image url to the RSS, for example for those who use the Embed.ly API (OxyThemes OTNewz).

Thank a ton :D
Starting to notice a very heavy load on one of my content aggregation sites that runs a huge RSS import base.

I have a few ideas, faster server, running the RSS import from a second server, moving the database to the cloud or another server, splitting RSS import into two halves or even thirds.

I figure I'd better fix this now as the other aggregator sites will probably hit this same wall. I'm thinking "reserve the hardware options 'til you need really 'em". So splitting RSS seems the best idea.

Has anyone run two instances of RSS import? Anyone have any ideas? Did I miss some other option?

In addition, interoperability with the widest range of feed readers could be improved by implementing the following recommendations.

Feeds should not be served with the "text/html" media type [help]

line 289, column 0: Missing atom:link with rel="self" [help]

1) Submitted added automatically after 3 hours the story I want you to published. Is this possible?

2) Published rss setting > submitted rss as setting why not? Is it possible to drop the settings appear rss submitted story?

3) Attach Files > Submitted story (s) does not exceed one day later Published (Main page) What is the reason?
URLs are not allowed in titles but the RSS importer allows those which visually conflicts with the actual Title line link. I think the right way would be just to disallow and remove them or else place the whole story into 'upcoming' instead of published where they can be dealt with manually.

Any thoughts or ideas on this would be appreciated.
I'm pulling a lot of feeds from Facebook and sometimes wind up with html entities in the titles which doesn't render properly on display. I know about 'html_entity_decode' but haven't figured out where to put it and the variables involved.
